Cecilie and Nicoline Uganda visit:
They arrived on Monday 1st of July at Entebbe airport at 4:00 am ,that was morning. Livingstone was already there to welcome them, it was a moment of excitement from both of them after a period of 3 years. Then after we we head to Dana hotel a very nice cosy hotel in the Ghetto area of Kabalagala. After check in they had rest waked up at 10:o’clock visiting St. Peter’s for a short introduction before next day for the main program. At 11:o’clock on the same day Cecilie and Nicoline visited Owino market, city walk and Buganda road crafts market, YMCA School and back to hotel ended the day with dinner at Hollandia cafe Gaba road.
Day 2 on Tuesday it was serious business started with p 4 Classes its a five stream class and each class has between 85 -115 they managed to start with English then sports/tumbling and dances.
It was a half day program every day then after a 3 kms village walk from St. Peters School to Dana Hotel passing through ghetto areas of Nsambya.
Day 3 was a bit easier after getting experience from the first day of workshops, this time they were a little bit of disturbance from the primary one pupils who wanted to join the gymnastics classes but were controlled all time they tried to come in. After the morning session and breakfast Nicoline and Cecilie visited Kisa children’s centre it’s a small school in kawempe 5 kms from city center (Kampala)
There was a lot of excitement as it was the first time for the children to see white teachers, they interacted with headmistress, teachers and children in there classes. Then after they Donate a very nice children’s soccer uniform with a logo of Haslev school and back to hotel.
Day 4 after morning classes and trainings then a tour at Kampala Mosque, having a long city walk from old Kampala through the city center to Buganda road visiting crafts market again buying souvenirs and having lunch at coffee shop back to hotel.
Day 5 it was nice day because after our daily routine at St. Peter’s school ,we took a taxi back to hotel where we found a surprise especially me Livingstone to see Mr. Esben sitting in hotel Garden having a bottle bell beer. It was a surprise because I didn’t know that he was coming to Uganda. We were very happy to see him lots of joy lol we enjoyed lunch together. Then in afternoon a short walk from hotel to Kansanga visiting the local market and back to hotel for a dinner as we prepared for our last day program at St. Peter’s that was Saturday morning. It was time of sadness because children were still wanted to enjoy the air track. The session ended with handing over the 2 t shirts as souvenirs to a teacher who was in charge of the all week program with us a red and T-shirt with Haslev logo and Black T-shirt with street Gymnastics logo.
Day 6 was a festival day at Kalanamo where street gymnastics uganda was full participants in all activities gymnastics/Acrobatics and cultural dances.
